Now that facebook hosts the comments on many sites, it's either the CIA, or the international marketing mafia.

I think there will be increasing self restrictions people will place on themselves with regard to revealing their true identity around the web. Being yourself amongst your closest social network is one thing; but even in the social sphere we all have multiple personas, and would like to keep boundaries. So in the broader sphere of commenting on all things from political to technical/professional to sports/social, people will want tight control. It is one thing to make a comment verbally amongst a close group, quite another to have it captured on the internet with many ways to be echoed, amplified and simply interpreted out of context.
I think it will be impossible for facebook to control those many permutations of persona that are the reality of our human experience. And even if it were technically possible, why would I risk it on one platform when it's easy to sign up for any account I want. Reputation scoring will be the key, whether I am revealing my true name or not. Publishers just need to be better at allowing their users to choose how they want to filter the comments they see. I am not sure who is working on that today.
