Primaries, Stephen Colbert and Super PACs

This has been a really fascinating primary build up and start, as Republicans try to settle for Romney. I think the field has been disappointing, and there must be something at play in the media or in the halls of power, as the discussion never seems to get off the extreme soap box. There must be a better level of conversation than this, that actually treats the public as intelligent adults who can think long term for the country we want our children to have.
Colbert's stunt on the super PAC just drives home the messy state of politics, financed by invisible money rather than an up front assessment of character, a platform for leaders, and an arena for pragmatism.
