Chrome is the gateway

Chrome has been on quite the tear the last few years. I would think that docs and mobile have been the main drivers here, together with the production of many new chromebooks at the low end of the PC market.
Fortune has a good overview of it's progress over the last few years, and the promise of it's potential with chromecast to connect services and devices across Google. (The dawn of the Chrome Age - Apr. 10, 2014)
Perhaps Google is closest to revealing what the value in being the no.1 browser is. I don't think Netscape or Microsoft managed to.
