Wow, that happened a long time ago and we're still arguing about it….Evolution in Schools

Scopes Trial - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: The Scopes Trial, formally known as The State of Tennessee v. John Thomas Scopes and commonly referred to as the Scopes Monkey Trial, was an American legal case in 1925 in which a substitute high school teacher, John Scopes, was accused of violating Tennessee's Butler Act, which made it unlawful to teach human evolution in any state-funded school.
Anit-evolution forces rallied behind William Jennings Bryan, whole pro-evolution forces rallied behind lawyer Clarence Darrow and one of the first showings of the ACLU, formed in 1920.
Although his client lost the case, Darrow argued masterfully in court and in so doing weakened the influence and popularity of fundamentalism nationwide.
