All about the Millenials….Gen Xers sick of it

There's a new generation with enough critical mass to market against, or so it seems by all the noise about them in the media. The impact of the mobile phone and social media has probably awakened more detailed pondering on the generational 'shift' than ever before. And likely it's some but not all, and likely more subtle than a bar chart.

Hiring Managers Say Millennials Surpass Prior Generations In Several Key Business Skills, New Study Reveals | Press, News, Media Coverage: “It’s absurd that while we see a record level of job openings, millennials are struggling to find jobs and companies struggle to hire them,” said Dan Schawbel, founder of Millennial Branding. “Clearly, something is broken. Technology has forever changed where, when and how we work. Millennials are already more adaptable and focused on flexibility than generations before them. Businesses need to move more in this direction as well.”
So, Millenials are viewed as more adaptable, creative and solo oriented than the generation before - but isn't that just young people?

Meanwhile, Generation X: America’s neglected ‘middle child’ | Pew Research Center: Generation X has a gripe with pulse takers, zeitgeist keepers and population counters. We keep squeezing them out of the frame. This overlooked generation currently ranges in age from 34 to 49, which may be one reason they’re so often missing from stories about demographic, social and political change. They’re smack in the middle innings of life, which tend to be short on drama and scant of theme.

Generation X Is Sick of Your Bullshit: Mat Honan. Generation X is sick of your bullshit. The first generation to do worse than its parents? Please. Been there. Generation X was told that so many times that it can't even read those words without hearing Winona Ryder's voice in its heads. Or maybe it's Ethan Hawke's. Possibly Bridget Fonda's. Generation X is getting older, and can't remember those movies so well anymore. In retrospect, maybe they weren't very good to begin with. But Generation X is tired of your sense of entitlement.
